Our Team

Scott Fulton – Founder, CEO and Board Member

Scott has 30 years of experience in the life science and biopharmaceutical industry. He has B.S. degrees from MIT in physics and applied biology, and an M.S. from MIT in biomedical engineering. He has been responsible for the development, marketing and technical and sales support of over 15 separation media, instrumentation and process system product lines at Amicon and PerSeptive Biosystems. He was Chief Technical Officer at SolmeteX, a start-up developing advanced wastewater treatment systems. He then became Vice President of Program Management at Genzyme Transgenics (now GTC Biotherapeutics), directing programs with major biotech and pharmaceutical companies to develop manufacturing of recombinant proteins in the milk of transgenic dairy animals.

Robert Sakowski – Executive VP Operations and Engineering, and Board Member

Robert has B.S. degrees from the University of Wisconsin in physics, chemistry and mathematics, as well as an M.S. degree from the UW in physics. He worked for a number of years in the analytical chemistry group at Rayovac. He then founded and ran Ecoenergy Enterprises, an electronics development and manufacturing company, for over 20 years. Most recently he was, for 6 years, Manager of Advanced Development Engineering and Manager of Manufacturing Engineering at Gammex, a medical device company. In this role he managed the development, transfer to manufacturing and ISO 9000 quality control of a number of complex materials, optics and mechanical systems products.

Randall Bolger, Ph.D. – VP Commercial Development

Randy has 15 years of experience launching new technologies into the drug discovery tools market. He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the UW-Madison and a B.S. from LSU. During his 12-year tenure at PanVera Corporation (Invitrogen-Drug Discovery) he developed and launched several new assay platforms into the high-throughput screening market, initially as a research scientist, then eventually moving into a leadership role as Director-Business Development. In 2005 he joined BellBrook Labs to lead the development and commercialization of their first technology platform, Transcreener™, then joined Caden Biosciences in a similar role in 2007. Randy holds 4 patents and has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles.

Steve Murphy, Ph.D. – Director of Applications

Steve has 25 years of experience in basic research, drug discovery and product development. He earned his B.S. from Michigan State, a Ph.D. from UCSF and completed post-doctoral work at Stanford. As a Senior Scientist at Athersys, he developed biochemical and cell-based assays, conducted high-throughput screening campaigns and supported lead optimization. In his more recent role as Operations Manager for Cellular and Biochemical Assays at Invitrogen (now part of Life Technologies), he developed and commercialized products for the drug discovery market, held responsibility for manufacturing and QC testing of these products, and was a leader of new technology integration into the Madison site.

Duane Kaufman – Director of Manufacturing and Quality

Duane has over 15 years of experience in diverse manufacturing environments. He holds B.A. degrees in both Mathematics and Physics and a M.S degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. At the Lunar Radiation Corporation (later known as GE Medical Systems), he served as a Manufacturing Engineer for ten years, automating the production line of the ultrasound bone densitometer and spearheading new product introduction from prototype to full production. He later moved to Imago Scientific Instruments, implementing a process and documentation control system, and introduced the use of a full ERP system, controlling the manufacturing line of three-dimensional atomic microscopes.
