The AssayMAP Cartridge

The heart of AssayMAP technology is the high-throughput micro chromatography cartridge with a 5 µL packed resin bed. These highly versatile cartridges can be operated as parallel ultra-micro spin columns using standard laboratory pipetting equipment and plate centrifuges or highly parallel, precision flow columns using 96-channel probe syringe technology and automated liquid handling.

Image compares spin format and probe syringe configurations for AssayMAP cartridges.Spin format (left) utilizes standard manual or automated liquid handling with centrifugation to move liquids through the bed. The cartridge, media and labware work together to uniquely quantitate binding and elution. The ultra-low dead volume probe syringe (right) incorporated into the Agilent AssayMAP Bravo® liquid handline platform provides precise, positive displacement flow control through the bed in either direction.

Depending on your needs, you can treat cartridges as single-use, disposable units or take economic advantage of their capacity for reuse. Cartridge design and proprietary receiver plates together with careful selection of resins enable highly quantitative and precise binding and elution.

Each micro chromatography cartridge:

► Each AssayMAP micro chromatography cartridge contains 5 µL resin tightly packed between two bed supports. The conical inlet seal connects the bed directly to a probe syringe when automation is used. In spin-format operation, up to 200 µL liquid sample or buffer pipetted into the sample cup is moved into and through the resin bed by centrifugation.

▼ AssayMAP cartridges rest in racks with an SBS/ANSI footprint, compatible with a broad range of 96-well microplates and instruments, as well as both manual pipetting and automated liquid handling techniques. From 1 to 96 cartridges can be run at a time.
